Asbestos survey prices
Survey prices depend on the size and age of the building, the type of survey and how many samples are needed. Prices are agreed with the surveyor before any visit is booked.
What affects the price
For a house, the main factors are the number of rooms, whether there is a loft and outbuildings, and how many samples are needed. For commercial and industrial buildings, floor area, number of floors, roof access and the number of materials to sample are what matter most. Refurbishment and demolition surveys cost more than management surveys because they are intrusive and take longer, and because the area must be made good afterwards.
Laboratory analysis is normally charged per sample, and some surveyors include a number of samples in the survey price. Ask what is included, what a rush turnaround costs and whether the report is included. Beware of a price that looks very low: it may exclude sampling, which is the part that actually answers the question.
What a quote should state
A written quote should say the type of survey, the scope and the areas covered, the number of samples included, the turnaround for results, whether access equipment is included, and what the report contains. If anything is excluded, such as roof access or the cost of making good, it should say so.
Removal prices
Removal is quoted after a survey, because the price depends on the type and quantity of material and whether the work is licensed. We do not publish removal prices, since a figure without a survey would be a guess. If removal is needed, licensed contractors will quote for the scope identified.
